Falling in love with a co-worker is a common thing happens in the world of work, moreover if you and he are working in the same team for a long time. Not only having working ties, but you may also have emotional closeness with him. If this happens to you, what would you do?

Don’t always stick with him

Falling in love with co-worker and have the opportunity to be with him for long time, doesn’t mean that you can stick with him all the time. Don’t forget that you are in a work environment that’s bound by the rules and also tasks that must be completed as soon as possible. If you want to get close with him for a personal purpose, wait until a lunch break comes or after work.

Don’t show off with other colleagues

If indeed you already have a special relationship with him, it doesn’t mean that you can show off affection in front of other colleagues. After all, the office is not a right place to show off affection or do things that are too personal.

Realize the consequences of this relationship

Just like deciding other important decisions in life, you should also think about the consequences of having relationship with a co-worker. There are many kinds of consequences that can occur when you build a relationship with a co-worker, for example: it can spark gossip in the workplace, if there is a fight in the relationship; it can affect your performance at work, or there’s a possibility that you will get a reprimand from the boss. Whatever the risk that you may face because of this relationship, make sure that you are ready to deal with it.

Understand the office policy

The most important thing you need to be aware is about the office policy. If your workplace doesn’t allow its employees to establish personal relationship between the fellow employees, you should consider about this relationship again. Discuss with him what you both would do if this relationship is heading towards marriage. Who is the one among you who may resign from the work if you have married with him? Talk openly about this problem with your partner.
